Punugulu-పునుగులు
Ingredients:
Dosa Batter-2cups
Rice Flour-1/4cup
Onion-1(Finely chopped)
Green chillies-3to4(Finely chopped)
Red chilly powder-1/2tsp
Chana dal/Bengal gram-1/4th cup(Soaked in water for one hour)
Jeera-1tsp
Turmeric-a pinch(optional)
Curry Leaves-2springs
Coriander Leaves-2tbsp (chopped)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep fry.
Process:
Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium high heat
Now take the left over dosa batter in to a bowl, add rice flour,soaked chana dal,onions, green chillies ,curry leaves & coriander leaves,salt,turmeric,jeera & red chilly powder to it and mix well and make a thick batter.
Check the oil, when its reaching piping hot stage, reduce flame to medium and drop a tbsp of batter into the hot oil. Prepare a batch of 10-12 punukulu based on the size of the kadai.
Deep fry to a golden brown shade and remove onto absorbent paper.
Serve hot with peanut chutney or ginger chutney or any other chutnies of your choice.
